1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using SumTube ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access or use our services.
Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
2. Service description
SumTube is an AI-powered video summarization service that creates summaries of YouTube videos from their publicly available captions. SumTube is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Our service:
- Generates summaries of YouTube videos
- Writes summaries in the language you choose (English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean or Chinese)
- Offers three summary lengths: short, medium and detailed
- Keeps a history of your summaries
3. User accounts and limitations
Account usage is subject to the following terms:
- Free account: a maximum of 1 video summary.
- Premium account: unlimited video summaries.
- SumTube does not ask you to register. It creates an anonymous account automatically when you open the app; no name or email is needed.
- Your history and premium access are tied to that anonymous account on your device and your Apple ID purchases.
- If you reinstall the app or change devices, sign in with the same Apple ID; if premium does not appear, contact us.
4. Premium subscription
Premium features are available through in-app purchases. Premium subscription plans and their prices are shown in the in-app purchase screen before you subscribe. The price and length of each plan are the ones shown there and in your Apple ID confirmation. Premium removes the free limit and allows unlimited video summaries.
- Billing and renewal: subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. The renewal cost will be the same as your initial subscription unless otherwise notified.
- Subscription management: you can manage and cancel your subscription through your App Store account settings. Removal of the app does not automatically cancel your subscription. Price changes are handled by Apple under App Store rules.
- Refunds: all refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policies. Refund requests must be submitted through the App Store. We cannot directly process refunds for App Store purchases.
5. Acceptable use
Users agree to use the service responsibly and in compliance with all applicable laws. The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Legal and regulatory: violating any applicable laws or regulations, infringing on intellectual property rights, or using the service for any illegal purposes.
- Service usage: attempting to bypass usage limits or restrictions, reverse engineering or modifying the app, or using automated systems to access the service.
- Content: submitting inappropriate or offensive content or links, using the service to spread misinformation, or attempting to abuse or exploit the service.
6. Content rights and usage
- User content: you retain all rights to your submitted content. Summaries are generated for personal use only. Commercial use of summaries requires appropriate licenses.
- Service rights: we maintain rights to the summarization technology. Generated summaries may not be redistributed commercially. App content and features are protected by copyright.
7. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to our services under the following conditions:
- Violation of these terms of service
- Suspicious or fraudulent activity
- Extended period of account inactivity
- Non-payment of subscription fees
Upon termination, access to premium features will be immediately revoked, existing summaries may become inaccessible, and no refunds will be provided for unused subscription periods.
8. Changes to terms
Our terms may be updated periodically:
- We will post significant changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
- Users are encouraged to review terms regularly.
- Previous versions of terms will be archived and available upon request.
9. Limitation of liability
Our liability is limited in the following ways:
- Service availability: we strive for but cannot guarantee 100% uptime. Service may be interrupted for maintenance, and technical issues may affect service availability.
- Summary accuracy: summaries are AI-generated and may contain errors. Users should verify important information. We are not liable for decisions based on summaries.
